© Jacqueline M Lewis PhotoID# 6121437: About my approach        slide show (1)
Travel and outdoor scenic photography are my specialties. I apply a prize-winning "impressionistic" digital photographic technique especially to images of the Greater Lehigh Valley (PA) area, and where other US or international scenes lend themselves to this creative process. The result conveys a softer, romantic feeling. Many insist these computer enhanced photos are paintings! Throughout, I like to use vivid color saturation.

I hope to convey my inspiration and excitement of discovery to the viewers and make them feel a part of the photograph. To quote travel writer George Miller: "Travel is a product of the heart, not the itinerary." www.photosbyjlewis.com

Booming prosperity contrasts with 5,000-year old tradition in the many faces of China. Photographs hardly capture the grandeur, and most of all, the graciousness of its people.

Included are images of Beijing and the Great Wall; the Terra Cotta Warriors on Xi'an; Yangtze River scenes of the amazing Three Gorges; Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Lantau Islands. A view of Lhasa, Tibet, and Potala Palace, is considered the city's greatest landmark.

Photographs of Florence and Tuscany. Florence (the capital of Tuscany) and Tuscany have such powerful artistic and historical associations with the Renaissance that it's easy to forget their significant role in modern Italy. Florence is still today a cosmopolitan and wealthy metropolis, while Tuscany is a region whose social and cultural traditions still find a powerful voice. www. photosbyjlewis.com

© Jacqueline M Lewis PhotoID# 5794009: dscn0652a Japan Photographs - Kyoto and Tokyo        slide show (61)
For eleven centuries (794-1868), Kyoto was, after Nara, the Imperial Capital. Kyoto is a living museum--there's no way to visit all of its 1,800 Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples, along with the art galleries, during a short--or even a long--visit! Tokyo, formerly Edo, became the capital after Kyoto. It has reinvented itself as one of the world's most modern, exciting, and energizing cities. Japanese gardens, born of the meeting between the beauty of nature and those receptive to it, are meant to encourage reflection. Photography by Jacqueline Lewis. www.photosbyjlewis.com

Formerly the towns of Mauch Chunk and East Mauch Chunk, a Native American Indian term meaning "Mountain of the Sleeping Bear", united in 1954 and renamed "Jim Thorpe", PA. On Memorial Day of 1957, Jim Thorpe, "The Athlete of the Century", was finally laid to rest from Oklahoma to this place in a 20,000-pound, red granite mausoleum, paid for by the special Nickel Fund of the residents. Today, the Borough of Jim Thorpe welcomes thousands of guests annually, as it did in the early 1900s. www.photosbyjlewis.com

Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA, was founded in 1865 by Asa Packer, an industrial pioneer, entrepreneur and philanthropist. This picturesque 1600-acre wooded campus is actually built into the side of what is affectionately known as "Old South Mountain" in historic Bethlehem. My images of this Asa Packer Campus are featured in both contemporary vivid color tones as well as in the traditional sepia tone, chosen for Lehigh's colors of brown and white. www.photosbyjlewis.com
